OVERVIEW:

The Lanier LD-145 is an upgraded multifunction copier from Lanier’s LD-135. With significantly improved speeds for copying, this multifunction copier is sure lock to handle multiple high-speed tasks. The Lanier LD-145 also has a dependable paper storage capacity for offices and businesses that demand hefty production. Improved reliability and performance for the optional functions for printing, scanning and fax makes the Lanier LD-145 a perfect machine for today’s office and business needs.

PROS:

The Lanier LD-145 packs a 45-page per minute speed for monochrome copying and the optional network printing. Copying process uses CCD scanning and twin laser beam electro-photographic printing, which enables the Lanier LD-145 to produce quality copies. Warm-up time is pretty fast for a multifunction copier, logging in approximately 20 seconds, with a blazing first copy speed of 3.6 seconds. Resolution for the Lanier LD-145 carries 600 dots per inch, enough to produce crisp, quality text and images. Standard memory is 64MB, plus a 20 GB hard disk drive for virtual storage. Zoom capacity has 1% increments from 25 to 400%, ensuring that the Lanier LD-145 is able to produce fine output details.

Optional printer function has corresponding resolutions for printer language available. Standard language such as PCL5e has 300/600 dpi, PCL6 equals 600 dpi, and RCPS with options for 200, 300 and 600 dpi. Additional option for printer language is Adobe PostScript 3 that has a 600 dpi equivalent. For its printer memory, the Lanier LD-145 has 192 MB with a 20 GB HDD for a separate virtual storage. Supported interface includes a standard bi-directional IEEE 1284 with an Ethernet 10 base-TX. Other options include Wireless LAN, Bluetooth and USB 2.0. The Lanier LD-145 has supported environments for Windows and MAC different platforms.

Scan speed for the Lanier LD-145 is even faster, with 52 originals per minute. Optional scanning also carries 600 dpi resolutions, with original size support for A5 – A3 paper types. Supported output formats include PDF, JPEG and TIFF files, with bundled drivers for Network TWAIN and SMTP scan to email feature. Destination addresses has a 500 maximum per job, with stored destination addresses up to 2,000. Scan to folder features SMB or FTP protocol, which also includes a login security. The Lanier LD-145 also has 50 folders available for job destinations, allowing the Lanier LD-145 to provide users better handling of scan outputs.

Unlike some multifunction copiers which do not include a fax function, the Lanier LD-145 has an optional fax that has G3 and internet fax compatibility. Modem speed has a maximum of 33.6 Kbps, with a standard resolution of 200 x 100 dpi and a detailed one for 200 dpi. Transmissions speeds are approximately 3 seconds on a 200 x 100 dpi A4 type paper, and a standard memory capacity of 8MB. Optional upgrade is up to 32MB, large enough to handle numerous fax outputs. A memory back up is also available, making sure that production lapses are checked with the Lanier LD-145. Available software are SmartDeviceMonitor, which also include a Web alternate, Web Image Monitor, DeskTopBinder v2 Lite and ScanRouter V2 Lite.

For paper handling and storage capacity, the Lanier LD-145 has a maximum of 3,550 sheets, with input capacity having two 500-sheet trays with a 50-sheet bypass. Options for additional two 500-sheet trays are available, as well as 1,500-sheet large capacity tray. Finishing options are also available, with 1,000-sheet, a multi-tray and booklet finishers. Duplex function with limitless capability is also featured in the Lanier LD-145.

CONS:

The Lanier LD-145 lacks an impressive resolution for its copy function and as well as print, scan and fax functions. While the Lanier LD-145 carries competitive speeds especially for its fax option, it totally lacks high quality outputs that are usually found in other multifunction machines.

In staying true to high-volume capacity with output results, the Lanier LD-145 has toner cartridges with yields up to 30,000 pages at 5% coverage. Other consumables are available at a competitive price, such as developers with 520 grams and costing below $200.
